A key road into Chadderton saw congestion on Wednesday, April 27 after two car crashes saw three children taken to hospital.

Shortly after 8am, two cars were involved in a crash on A663 Broadway at the junction with Hollinwood Avenue in New Moston.

North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) sent an ambulance and a consultant paramedic after they were called at around 8am to reports of a two-vehicle crash.

They confirmed that four patients, all children, were treated at the scene, although the injuries were not thought to be too serious.

Three of the children were taken to hospital. Their conditions remain unknown.

The crash was also attended by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS).

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: "At 8.10am this morning (Wednesday 27 April) we were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Broadway.

"One fire engine from Chadderton fire station was quickly in attendance.

"Firefighters carried out first aid assessments of four people and worked to make the area safe, departing after around an hour at the scene."

The crash caused delays for drivers and saw passengers on some bus services have their journeys affected.

The First Bus 83 service experienced delays, while the Stagecoach 149 service was diverted for a period while the scene was cleared.
