THE following cases involve people from Oldham who have been convicted during April of driving when above the alcohol limit.

A woman has received a suspended prison sentence for driving almost three times over the limit.

Naomi Deans, of Wellington Street, Failsworth, was driving on Bothwell Road on March 3, 2022. She provided a breath sample of 104 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The 'breath limit', which indicates the limit amount it is legal to drive at provided through a breath sample, is 35mg per 100ml of breath.

At Manchester Magistrates' Court on April 22, Deans, 50, pleaded guilty to the charge.

She was handed a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, due to the severity of the offence. She will also serve a supervision period of 12 months and must follow any instructions given to her by a responsible officer for a maximum of 20 days.

Deans was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £128 and court costs of £85 and has been banned from holding a driving licence for five years.

A man has been banned from driving and has received a community order for drink driving.

Sajad Hussain, of Ralstone Avenue, was driving on Travis Street on March 6, when they were found to have exceeded the drinking limit.

He provided a breath sample of 82mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.

After pleading guilty at Manchester Magistrates' Court on April 20, he was given a community order, which says he must abstain from drinking alcohol for 120 days and must comply with the instructions of a responsible officer for a maximum of 10 days.

Hussain, 43, was also ordered to pay a fine of £366, a victim surcharge of £95 and courts costs of £85. He was disqualified from driving for 46 months.

A man has been made to pay costs and has been banned from driving after being found to have driven while twice above the alcohol limit.

Ruben Martins, of Hallroyd Brow, was driving an Audi A6 along Oldham Way on February 12, 2022.

When stopped, he was found to have 71mg of alcohol in a 100ml breath sample.

Martins, 35, pleaded guilty at Tameside Magistrates' Court on April 14 and was fined £120, made to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and court costs of £85.

He has been banned from holding a driving licence for 20 months, although this ban will be reduced by 20 weeks if he completes a course by May 13, 2023.
