Parents who have been parking at bus stops along a busy school road have been warned they could be fined.
Gavin Withey, a resident who lives nearby, has claimed that during drop-off and pick-up times along Chadderton Hall Road some parents are prone to leaving their cars at the bus stops.
Both North Chadderton School and St Matthew's C of E Primary School are based on the road and with so many children around, Mr Withey is worried about what could happen.
He said: "Someone is going to get injured or even killed, there is going to be an accident.
"They should put cones up to stop people parking."
Mr Withey added he has been met with abuse when he has confronted those who have been parking at the bus stops.
The 402 bus operated by Nexus Move is the only service which runs along Chadderton Hall Road, doing so once an hour, and Mr Withey said the bus stops were unnecessary.
He said: "I have spoken to some of the bus drivers and they state they never pick-up or drop-off at this lay-by, so why is it needed?"
Both North Chadderton School and St Matthew's C of E were contacted for comment.
Pictures clearly show cars parked at the bus stops, which the council has said is unacceptable.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Oldham Council said: "These drivers should know better than to park in restricted areas, including bus stops which carry a penalty notice of £70.
"This selfish behaviour not only puts themselves and their passengers at risk but other road users too and this is totally unacceptable.
"Our parking officers will be monitoring this area closely and we will enforce any driver who thinks they can park irresponsibly.
"In the meantime, may we remind all parents to park appropriately when dropping their children off at school and to observe any parking restrictions that may be in place, at all times."
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said the council's comment covered what they had to say.
Cllr Barbara Brownridge, who represents Chadderton north, previously said she shared Mr Withey's concerns regarding "the selfishness of some parents when it comes to parking irresponsibly and putting their children and others at risk".
She also stated one of the schools was "very concerned" about the problem and urged parents "to think more about what they doing".
