EXTREME adventurer and teacher Steve Hill has smashed his latest marathon challenge.
Steve, the deputy head at St Joseph’s RC Primary School in Shaw and founder of the Team Hill Charitable Trust, completed the gruelling Scottish Ultra X Marathon on Sunday.
The challenge saw Steve race 125kms across the Knoydart Peninsula in Scotland’s West Highlands over the course of three days to raise money for the Team Hill Charitable Trust.
The race is the latest in a string of ultra-marathons that the adventurer has completed in recent years.
Previous marathons run by Steve include the Mount Everest Marathon, North Pole Marathon, Petra Desert Marathon, Amazon Jungle Ultra Marathon, and the Artic Ice Ultra marathon.

Discussing his latest challenge, Steve said: “It was a great adventure up in the Highlands of Scotland.
“It was a really tough race over the mountains but in the most stunning environments - it really was spectacular. The ascents were brutal though - it was a case of just getting my head down and grinding the climbs out and then picking up my pace on the descents.
“On stage two I was out on the course for 14 hours which was a long hard day - I was certainly relieved to reach camp that day.
“The money raised will go towards supporting projects in Uganda and helping to support local good causes.”
Steve is heading to Uganda on May 28 to see the projects supported by the Team Hill Charitable Trust and to take on the Uganda Marathon for the fifth time.
The serial adventurer is also researching his next challenge.
Steve said: “I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has sponsored and supported me during this recent challenge - the support I receive is always greatly appreciated.
“I'm now doing my research and looking for my challenge for the summer - any suggestions would be greatly received.”
Steve’s JustGiving page for the Ultra X Marathon challenge is still accepting donations.
