Former MasterChef winner Simon Wood has given his personal seal of approval to the latest offering from a popular Saddleworth brewer.
Stephen James, boss of Donkeystone Brewery at Greenfield, has launched a new onsite shop, named Palate.
And he asked Simon, from Chadderton and who has his own restaurant in Manchester, to cut the ribbon opening the new venture.
Stephen explained: “Simon has no interest in my venture apart from loving what we do.
“He has our beers on his beer, wine and cheese pairing menu at his restaurant and he’s just a great guy.”
Stephen added: “Palate is not just a normal brewery shop.
"It is a haven for all things artisan and crafty, offering plenty of unique gift ideas, freshly baked artisan breads, cakes and hot snacks, a unique range of artisan cheeses and charcuterie from the UK and Europe.
“And, in addition to our range of craft beers, we have a specially hand-selected wine from single small vineyards in France, Spain, Chile, Argentina and Australia.
“Palate offers something unique to Saddleworth and we've already seen from the fantastic feedback it is a welcome addition to the area.”
And the shop has a lovingly compiled selection of dog treats on offer to keep visitors' four-legged friends happy.
It is not the first time The Donkeystone Brewing Co has championed independent businesses.
Last month, the brewery was part of Oldham Made, a pop-up shop in Spindles Shopping Centre which hosted a range of local retailers throughout March.
The shop, which is based with Donkeystone's brewery and tap room at Wellington Industrial Park, is open Monday to Friday between 10am and 5pm.
Saturdays the store is open 12pm-6pm and Sundays between 9am and 4pm.
