Top brass from Saddleworth School’s music department are promoting the first-ever performance at the new school in Diggle.

'A Celebration of Youth' will showcase the musical talents of some of Saddleworth's finest young brass musicians on Thursday, April 28, in the school’s new main hall.

It will feature the Saddleworth School Brass Band, Delph Youth Band, Dobcross Youth Band and special guests, the brass ensemble of Manger Folkhogskule, from Norway.

Garrath Beckwith, curriculum leader of music at Saddleworth School, said: “As part of our long-term commitment to promote and develop youth music in the Saddleworth area I am absolutely delighted to host this event at the new Saddleworth School in Diggle.

“I hope this event will become an annual fixture in Saddleworth's musical calendar, and I am really looking forward to showcasing the musical talents of our young people.

“And the opportunity to engage with musicians from another country who have a similar heritage and brass band tradition is very exciting.

"I look forward to welcoming our Norwegian guests and local youth music superstars in the next week.”

He added: "Please help us support these talented young musicians - they are the future of Saddleworth's rich musical tradition.

“We are always looking for opportunities for our young musicians to perform, learn from, and share the stage with first-class performers.

“I look forward to planning and sharing more events like this in the future - watch this space!"

Tickets are limited for this performance and are available on a first-come first-served basis, please reserve tickets early to avoid disappointment.

The concert starts at 7pm and doors open to the public at 6.30pm on the night - parking is available at the school.
