The RSPCA is set to reopen its Oldham shop nearly a year after staff discovered water leaking from the roof, leading to a flood.
The Strinesdale Reservoir RSPCA Animal Centre is set to re-open the doors of its shop on Yorkshire Street from 10am on Thursday, April 28.
After a substantial flood in the shop forced its closure last year, the shop is set to make the move back from its temporary location in the Upper Mall of Spindles – which will close on April 22 at 3.30pm.
Shoppers are being encouraged to get down to the Spindles location for the last remaining bargains ahead of its closure.
Vincent Sherard-Bornshin, chief executive of RSPCA Bury, Oldham and District, said: “The use of the pop-up shop within the Spindles Shopping Centre has been an enormous help as we try to recover as a charity from the long-lasting effects of the pandemic on our finances.
“Our income from the shops has taken a hit over the past two years due to closures, more people working from home and recent aid emergencies.
“All these factors have meant a significant drop in customers, income, and donations, but we are very pleased to get our Oldham shop open to help in raising the much-needed support for the animals in our care.”
The previous location has been refurbished – with increased space for furniture.
Located close to the War Memorial on Yorkshire Street, the shop will be open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 3.30pm, and is set to stock an extensive range of clothes, toys, electricals, jewellery, books, CDs, and furniture.
The charity is also encouraging those interested in volunteering to ask in-store or online.
Aside from internal training, the RSPCA also offers a National Vocational Qualification in retail.
