A car boot sale held at Tesco Failsworth over the Easter bank holiday raised hundreds of pounds for Ukraine and local food charities.
The sunny weather on Sunday (April 17) meant the car boot was a roaring success.
In total £300 was raised and will be split between the Red Cross Ukraine appeal and local food charities that help families struggling with food insecurity.
Locals in Failsworth came out in their droves to enjoy the sunshine, bargains, burgers and ice cream.
Residents are hoping another car boot fundraising event will be held again in the future.
Community Champion at Tesco Failsworth, Rose Knipe, said the store manager, Dave Pollitt, gave his “full backing” to facilitate the car boot sale while another colleague, Janice Lumley, helped facilitate the event on the day.
Lucia’s ice cream van had a fantastic day on Easter Sunday.
Lucia said: “The car boot sale had a lovely atmosphere.
“It’s just what Failsworth needs, and it went down a storm.”
One local business which sells bath bombs, soaps, candles and wax melts also enjoyed the day.
Grayesque owner Sam Garrity wrote on Facebook: “What a great day it was at Tesco Failsworth Car Boot Sale yesterday.
“It was such a lovely sunny day and lots of people from the Failsworth community all came out to have a wander around.
“Thank you to everyone who supported me yesterday, it was a pleasure to meet you all.”
