The friends of two young men killed in a Royton crash between a car and motorbike on Good Friday have raised thousands 'to give them the send off they deserve'.

A GoFundMe page set up by those who knew Harry Atkinson, 20, and Lewis Meeson, 21, has already raised more than £13,000.

Friends have created the fundraising effort to give to the families of the two men.

The page reads: "On the 15th of April 2022, we lost the two best friends that anyone could ask for to a tragic road accident.

"We are hoping to raise as much money as possible for the families of Harry and Lewis to help give them the send off they deserve!"

Along with the online fundraising page, the friends of the victims will be hosting a charity football match on Sunday, April 24.

The match will look to raise more money and "everyone is welcome to celebrate their memory".

More details are to be confirmed for the match.

Earlier today (April 17), the families of Harry and Lewis paid tribute to them.

Harry's family said: "Words can't describe how it feels to lose our youngest child, Harry - our son - in such a tragic way.

"Our hearts are broken.

"His life and his death will touch many people - most of all those who love him dearly."

The family of Lewis said in their statement: "The family has been completely devastated by the loss of our beloved Lewis.

"We are truly humbled by the outpouring of love and support from the community and from Lewis’s friends and family.

"This has reinforced what we already knew; that he is loved and cherished by everyone who knew him."
