A WOMAN called 999 for help after falling at a waterfall near Dovestones.
Oldham Mountain Rescue Team attended after a request from North West Ambulance Service for assistance with the location and treatment of the walker.
Due to a patchy phone signal, the team's only details were she was near Greenfield Brook.
At that point, the team had no proper location, information or injury details.
They headed towards Birchen Clough and came across the woman on the track above Greenfield Reservoir on Wednesday.
After falling from the path at Birchen waterfall, the woman had managed, with the help of her partner and passers-by, to get to safety.
Initial assessment by the team indicated she had suffered multiple injuries, including to her lower leg.
Fortunately, paramedics and a Rapid Response Vehicle were on scene soon after and were able to get her directly into the ambulance for a more thorough assessment and onward transport to hospital.
The 10-strong mountain rescue team, involved for just under two hours, has since heard the woman was released from hospital with a possible fractured ankle and ribs, plus heavy bruises.
“All at OMRT send our best wishes for a speedy recovery,” said the team’s spokesperson.
