An Oldham mum nicknamed the Easter Bunny said thank you 5,631 times today.

Because that is the remarkable number of Easter eggs Sally Maher has distributed to elderly people and children across the borough to ensure they have an eggstra special smile this Easter.

As part of her dedicated fundraiser - Oldham Easter School Gift -the eggs were delivered to five local schools, as well as to Dr Kershaw's Hospice, care homes, and Ronald McDonald House.

The Lees mother said: ”Thank you our local community for all your generous Easter eggs donations.

"It’s been exhausting but very well worthwhile.”

Speaking as she hit the 4,000 mark last month, the 48-year-old  said she was 'almost sick of counting' but added: "At the end of the day, all I want is to put smiles on people's faces."
