With the cost of living on the rise, our wallets are feeling lighter after every trip to the pump.
Oldhamers have mixed views on the fuel duty cut, but prices do appear to have softened slightly since it came in – even if they are still much higher than they were three weeks ago.
While walking, cycling, or taking public transport can help to soften the blow of high fuel costs (as well as have a benefit for the climate), sometimes a trip in the car is unavoidable.
Here are some of the cheapest places to fill up, as of this week:
1. Costco Oldham (Members only)
The cheapest every week so far.
If you have a Costco membership, this is the cheapest for you. Costco membership starts from £33.60 a year for an individual, subject to eligibility requirements.
- Unleaded: 153.7p - down 5p from last week.
- Diesel 167.7p - down 5.2p from last week.
2. Morrisons Oldham
Knocks Sainsbury’s from second place this week, by a fraction of a penny per litre.
- Unleaded: 155.7p - down 7p from last week.
- Diesel: 168.7p - down 7p from last week.
3. Sainsbury’s Oldham
The same price as it was when we checked on March 24 - the first full day of the fuel duty cut.
- Unleaded: 155.9p - down 6p from last week.
- Diesel: 168.9p - down 6p from last week.
4. Tesco Extra, Huddersfield Road
- Unleaded: 156.9p
- Diesel: 168.9p
5. Tesco Superstore, Chadderton
- Unleaded: 156.9p
- Diesel: 170.9p
