A YOUNG man has been stabbed in Werneth.
Police were called to Oxford Street at around 5.10pm today to a report of a stabbing.
A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.
A large section of the road was closed off and a police helicopter was circling the area.
A police spokesman said: "Officers were called at around 5.10pm today (19 October) to a report of a stabbing on Oxford Street in Oldham.
"Emergency services attended and a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"A man, aged 52, was later located by police and arrested on suspicion of assault.
"He remains in police custody for questioning.
"Enquiries are ongoing.
"Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident 2,352 of 19/10/2021. Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
