A MUM-OF-10 ‘died three times’ after contracting coronavirus when she was 29 weeks’ pregnant.
Samantha Lowe was placed into a coma and delivered her newborn at Royal Oldham Hospital without even knowing.
The 36-year-old survived the trauma and woke from her coma after four weeks to cradle her new baby girl, Ava.
Samantha is now back home to her children Megan, 18, Destiny, 13, Paul, 12, Nicole, 11, Levi, 10, Riley, eight, Brodie, seven, Jake, five and Lyra, four along with her partner Paul and baby Ava.
TRAUMA: Samantha awakes from her coma with her sister by her side
Her sister Tammy Lowe, 40, told how Covid almost killed her younger sister.
Tammy said: “Sam started with a headache and took a test which was positive.
“She took another test three days later and it was negative.
“Despite that the next day she couldn’t get her breath and collapsed at her home.
“An ambulance was called and her heart stopped beating, they were working on her for 45 minutes.
“When she got to the hospital, she died again, her heart stopped and she was taken to intensive care.
“Once she was settled with a tracheotomy they took her to theatre and delivered Ava."
MIRACLE: Baby Ava
“After that she was back in intensive care, where she died another time and doctors once again brought her back. She is lucky to be alive and so is Ava, covid is just pure evil."
Tammy is her sister’s next of kin and was by her side as well as looking out for her nieces and nephews.
TRAGIC: Samantha's children are happy to have mummy home
The sisters have been left traumatised by what happened and Tammy said that Samantha was sure she was dying.
Tammy said: “It is unreal, we lost our mum two years ago and Samantha kept saying, ‘mum is here, she’s with me’, I am going to die, I know it, it was such a shocking experience.
“The trauma and tears have been exhausting.”
Samantha is now back home in St Mary’s, Oldham, with her brood and Ava weighs a healthy 7lb, despite being born at 3lb 2oz on June 21.
SAD: Samantha was in shock when she met Ava
Tammy is looking after her as Paul has returned to work.
Tammy also cares for her two non-verbal autistic children Mia and Daniel, who have also been ‘a godsend’.
She said: “The twins can’t talk but Mia keeps coming up to me to kiss me because she can sense the heartache.”
“We do have something to look forward to though because I am getting married next year. When Samantha came out of her coma I asked her to be my maid of honour.
“She said yes and we both cried happy tears.”
