AN OLDHAM pub has run out of “some stock” and is battling to source more amid a UK-wide beer shortage.
The Britannia Tavern on Hollins Road, Oldham revealed over the weekend that it had ran out certain items and that staff were “doing everything” possible to source more.
It comes as delivery networks up and down the country struggle to keep delivery drivers on the road amid Covid and Brexit pressures.
The shortage was set to worsen this week with around 1,000 draymen employed by GXO Logistics Drinks Ltd, who are responsible for 40 per cent of UK beer deliveries, planning to strike today over pay.
The nationwide strikes have now been suspended following an improved pay offer from the company.
The improved offer of 4 per cent from 1.4 per cent by GXO Logistics Drinks Ltd will now be voted on by the draymen, who are based at 26 sites around the country.
A post published on The Britannia Tavern’s Facebook page on Sunday reads: “As we predicted due to current beer delivery issues, we have unfortunately run out of some stock. We are doing everything we can to source more.
“We do still have full stock of all draught lager and bitter. We apologise for the inconvenience”.
The pub is preparing to host a family fun day this bank holiday weekend with live music, a barbecue and face painting set for Sunday.
A spokesperson from Heineken UK said: "We are doing everything we can to get our beers and ciders to customers", adding: "We are keeping our customers constantly updated".
