Oldham gay bar set to get ''bigger and bigger' vows landlady

The renowned female impersonator, who has played sell-out shows in London and New York and owned bars in Marbella, said: “The only way they’ll take me out of this pub is feet first.”

The landlady, who grew up in Failsworth, added: “By November my whole show will be here, with dancers and support acts. The George Tavern is going to get bigger and bigger and bigger.”

Within her shows Terri impersonates everyone from Dusty Springfield, Diana Ross, Shirley Bassey, Cher and Joan Collins to Dolly Parton, which involves a costume including boobs which cost more than £2,000.

"I've always said I have the most expensive boobs in the business," Terri said.

The George Tavern, which is a popular a LGBTQ+ establishment and recently hosted events over Oldham Pride, currently holds full stage shows every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

All three nights include drag DJs and Saturday nights involve a completely choreographed show which Terri hosts, while Friday nights see an array of female impersonators take to the stage.

Terri has met 90 per cent of the ladies she impersonates and was best friends with Dusty Springfield for over 19 years.

Dusty attended one of Terri’s shows where she went backstage and told her: ‘I have one criticism; I was never ever that pretty’.

Remembering the night, Terri said: “We both burst out laughing and that was it, we went out for a Chinese meal at five in the morning and just hit it off.”

The older customers refer to Terri as Oldham’s Joan Collins, a performer the landlady is also friends with, as she wears a completely different outfit every night.

Terri currently has a collection of more than 105 shoes that are being used and over 97 wigs in rotation.

The landlady has owned The George Tavern for two years and said it has “gone from strength to strength” with table bookings currently “through the roof”.
