THE Labour Party's leader Sir Keir Starmer has expressed his shock after the Oldham Council leader's car was "firebombed" in the early hours of yesterday.

Police were called to the Glodwick area at around 1.30am on Tuesday to reports of a vehicle on fire.

The fire service put out the blaze and it was discovered that the car was deliberately set on fire, also causing slight damage to a neighbouring property.

No-one was injured in the incident, in which it has been confirmed that the vehicle belonged to council leader Cllr Arooj Shah.

Today, police have said that a 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
