A primary school in Oldham has taken the knee to show its support against racism.
Pupils and staff at Alexandra Park Junior School made the move after keeping up with recent affairs including the fallout from England’s penalty shootout defeat against Italy.
Children were shocked to see that Marcus Rashford, Jason Sancho and Bukayo Saka had been subjected to abuse after they missed penalties.
They were also horrified to learn about the vandalising of the Rashford mural.
Children wanted to show they supported these players and objected to online bullying.
Sports leader Simon Clark said they stood against the “minority” who want to spread hate.
He said: "I know our children are amazing and the events of the past few days has truly shocked them.
"As a community we stand together against the minority of people who would want to spread hate.
"For me, taking the knee with our children shows that our school and our community support and care about people no matter their race.
"Racism has no place in football and hopefully our image will be part of a wider campaign to kick it out.
"We took the knee in support of those players and all footballers who are facing hatred.”
The school regularly takes part in anti-racism and anti-hate activities.
In October in took part in Show Racism the Red Card and raised money for anti-hate charities.
