OLDHAM-BORN BBC Radio 1 presenter Nick Grimshaw is leaving the broadcaster after 14 years – and the council has wished him farewell in comedy fashion.
The star revealed he was leaving the BBC during his show on Wednesday.
Grimshaw joined the BBC in 2007, hosting BBC Two youth music show Sound alongside DJ Annie Mac.
Following the announcement this week, Oldham Council took to social media to wish Grimshaw luck and shared a picture of a council gritter with the sign "Nick Gritshaw" painted on the front.
The post is bound to raise a smile with the popular personality and his fans.
On Twitter, an Oldham Council spokesman said: "Sad to hear that you're leaving but we wish you all the best for your next adventure. Love from your fellow Oldhamers and your namesake."
