MANY taxi drivers offer friendly conversation to passengers, making their journeys more comfortable.
But unfortunately for comedian Shappi Khorsandi, she was given a lift by a driver from her starting point in Saddleworth which she hoped would have kept his opinions to himself.
Shappi, who has appeared on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and is a columnist and author, performed at Off The Rails Comedy Club at The Royal George pub in Greenfield at the weekend.
After drawing laughter from the audience, eager for live comedy amid the pandemic, she was greeted with a rude reception in a taxi to Manchester Piccadilly.
The comic shared her brief and very awkward conversation with her 196,000 followers on Twitter.
She said: "Just got into a cab at Saddleworth. "Driver: ‘You look rough’.
"Me: ‘Sorry?’
"Driver: ‘I said you look rough’.
"Me: ‘Oh’.
"Long drive to Manchester Piccadilly. Loooong drive in deathly silence."
Let's hope the next time Shappi comes to the borough a more polite taxi driver will be giving her a ride.
