THE most searched for celebrities in Oldham on a popular website have been revealed in an online map.

The Puddle has put together a map of the UK in which places have been replaced by the names of people who are most searched for on the website Wikipedia.

In the four-year period of data that was collected, actress Olivia Cooke, who starred in series Bates Motel and Vanity Fair, was the most searched for star in both Oldham and Royton.

Suranne Jones, who shot to fame in Coronation Street and has gone on to star in numerous TV dramas, is the most searched for celebrity from Chadderton.

Former Oldham East and Saddleworth MP Phil Woolas, who served in Labour's cabinet, came out on top as the person from Lees most people looked up.

Model and actress Agyness Deyn is top of the list for Failsworth.

Working class suffragette and socialist feminist Annie Kenney, who became a leading figures in the Women's Social and Political Union, was the most searched for person from Saddleworth.

Music artist Jodie Connor, who released her debut single Now or Never in January 2011, which peaked at number 14 in the charts, is the biggest person of interest in Shaw and Crompton.

Connor also featured on grime collective Roll Deep's number one comeback single Good Times.

Just outside the borough, Geoff Hurst, who famously made history after scoring a hattrick in England's 4-2 World Cup-winning victory over West Germany in 1966, is Ashton's most searched for famous person on the map.

Gerard Kearns, who plays Ian Gallagher in hit series Shameless, is the celebrity people have been looking for from Mossley more than anyone else.

The data is based on searches that took place between July 2015 and May 2019.
