MOUNTAIN rescue volunteers helped to rescue a woman who suffered a bad fall near Dovestone over the weekend.
A crew from Oldham Mountain Rescue Team responded to a request for assistance and evacuation from North West Ambulance Service after the woman had fallen on a hill at Greenfield and suffered a badly-fractured ankle.
A small number of team members were dispatched to locate and assess the casualty, which allowed the others to assemble and carry kit up to the site. As the team were administering medical aid, the North West Air Ambulance landed close by and dispatched their paramedics up the hill to assist.
An OMRT spokesman said the casualty was packaged on the team stretcher and carried down to the main track, where she was transported to hospital by land ambulance.
Twenty personnel were involved for two hours and 20 minutes.
