A SERIOUS road accident has closed the A663 Crompton Way in Shaw near to High Street, opposite the Shell petrol station.
A 56-year-old was cut free by firefighters and taken hospital by paramedics with serious upper and lower back injuries.
Two fire engines and two special appliance units and two ambulances attended the scene. It understood the woman is driving a Honda HR-V and the second vehicle involved was a VW Up.
Major traffic disruption from Rochdale Road traffic lights towards the “big lamp roundabout” was being reported on Twitter..
Transport for Greater Manchester and First Bus have issued warning about the closure of High Street and Crompton Way and is advising motorists and passengers to look for alternative routes.
Police have also issued warnings.
