MEMBERS of Oldham Mountain Rescue Team paused from their heroic efforts helping firefighters battling the Saddleworth Moors blazes for this photo call.
They have played a key role in the bid to quell the fires which local farmers and experts believe could rage for months.
Meanwhile, they were called into action to help fire crews and police tackle yet another moorland fire at Sandy Lane in Dobcross this week.
The volunteers have also thanked the West Yorkshire outdoor clothing company Craghoppers which has donated socks, hats and caps to replace kit damaged while helping fight the fires.
A post from the team of Facebook said: “As a voluntary emergency service, we only exist and survive thanks to the support and generosity of others. Our running costs each year are about £30,000.”
