I'm looking for celebrationsHazel Anne Hewitt
Published on 30/03/2022
HEWITT Hazel Anne 1944-2022 Sweet Dreams Ma! It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hazel after a courageous battle with cancer. Loving wife of the late Tom Hewitt, devoted mother to Conrad Glyn (Francine) of Waterloo, Ontario and David Mark (Terese) of Leeds, Yorkshire, and travelling companion to Christopher Buckley of Rochdale. Cherished grandmother to Tanya, Julia, Alice, Amy, Charlotte and Theo. Survived by brother Tom (Liliane) and nephews, Timothy and Christopher. Hazel was predeceased by her mother and father, George and Annie Taylor of Parkbridge, Oldham. She had a mischievous glint in her eye, a joy for life and always had some project on the go. Working for many years at Phoenix House, where she made many friends, she took early retirement to spend more time with her grandchildren and travel, once getting on a plane to Perth, alone, when she was 70. She loved long walks with Dorothy, the Tortoises and Leigh Ramblers, volunteered with the League of Friends and looked forwards to Thursdays at the Regal Moon, and Mondays at the Historical Society and the Puckersley quiz. Cremation will be at Hollinwood Crematorium at 11:00 a.m. on April 8th, followed by a reception at Royton cricket club. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the League of Friends of the Royal Oldham Hospital would be appreciated. We are most grateful to the doctors and nurses, at both the Royal Oldham and Wythenshawe hospitals for their dedicated service both to Hazel and to the NHS.
