Admin and clerical teams at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust are being celebrated for their vital role in making sure patients receive the care they need, when they need it.

From handling calls, to managing schedules, and booking appointments, the trust’s administrative workers are the 'backbone of the organisation' by ensuring everything runs smoothly and to schedule.

And to thank them for the work they do, the trust celebrated them as part of Administrative Professionals Day on Wednesday, April 24.

Rae Wheatcroft, Chief Operating Officer at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This has been a perfect opportunity to say a huge thank you to all our admin staff who do a fantastic job for our patients.

“From our receptionists, booking teams, secretaries, business support teams, personal assistants, switchboard operators – they are the driving force that keeps our organisation going, and we should never underestimate the difference they make.”

Admin teams work throughout the organisation to support patients on their health journeys, including handling more than 150,000 calls to book and reschedule appointments and handling up to 45,000 sets of case notes each month.

Nicola Ferguson, Operational Business Manager for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the trust, said: “Being an admin professional is incredibly rewarding.

“Every day is different, and although it can be challenging with ever increasing demand, the resilience, dedication and commitment of our admin professionals makes me proud to be part of this profession.

“People may not be aware of how much of a contribution our fantastic admin staff provide to the delivery of healthcare; this is a perfect opportunity to recognise, celebrate and showcase the varied roles we carry out each day.”
