A family has paid tribute to an "amazing" great-grandmother who served as a pub landlady in Oldham.

Linda Sharples passed away on April 12 at the age of 74, surrounded by members of her family.

She had lived on The Knoll in Shaw and was formally the landlady of what was then known as The Railway pub in Shaw for five-and-a-half years, before it was renamed as The Weavers Answer.

In a tribute, Linda's family paid tribute to the wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

The statement read: "She was an amazing person who went above and beyond for all she called family or friend.

"She was kind, caring, loving and empathetic, the best of us all.

"She will be sadly missed but remembered with love."

Linda's funeral is set to be held on Tuesday, April 30 at Hollinwood Crematorium at 1pm.

Following that, a celebration of her life will be held at The Park Inn pub in Shaw, which is currently run by her daughter, Sally-Ann Sharples-Kennedy.

The family have said that all who knew Linda are welcome and has asked for those attending to wear bright coloured clothes as Linda had requested.
