A CAR fire broke out in Oldham on Friday afternoon.
Firefighters were sent to the junction of Huddersfield Road and Ripponden Road at around 4.45pm following reports of a vehicle being ablaze.
Dramatic pictures captured the fire.
A fire service spokesman: “The fire involved one vehicle on the roadway and was quickly brought under control by firefighters from Oldham fire station.
“The scene was made safe and firefighters left the incident less than an hour after the first 999 call.”
The fire caused a huge tailback of traffic attempting to leave the town centre at rush hour.
